Stop Action at the Beach…

One reason I decided to upgrade my camera was to make it easier to take better action pictures of my grandchildren…

IMG_2631-1

They tire quickly of posing quietly…

IMG_2640-1

and rightfully so…

IMG_2663-1

so action shots are the way to go…

But every time I try to get my perfect shot…

I realize how complicated photography really can be…

Here I had my camera on continuous shooting…

IMG_2730-2

but kept my focus on AF….

IMG_2660-2

too many slightly out of focus photos for my taste…

Hopefully I will have many times to keep practicing…

Oh, love these! Especially the one where they're running toward you and the one with his little toes almost touching the waves. Lovely!

they are so cute....
and yes, practice practice practice.....
and then more practice.

and even then, i still learn something new everyday.

I love your new photos. I'm sure that when you look back at the pictures as the grands get older, you will be reminded of their boundless energy and delight in the world around them. Still shots just can't capture that.

I love these shots--even when they're not perfectly focused--because they are of such beautiful subjects! Oh, and the wonderful light, and your eye for composition!

I feel the same way about photography. I learn a little more every day, which only makes me realize how much more I have to learn!!! xoxo Gigi

Oh, I love these! They're action photography at it's best...and we're all our own worst critic.

Great shots... you need a fast camera to catch the kiddies in action and you did a fabulous job! Absolutely love the shot where your grandson is mid-jump into the water, nicely done!

They say practice makes perfect. These look pretty good I love the second from the bottom.

I was trying to photograph 2 dogs chasing a ball the other day. There is defiantly an art to action photos.

I think a slight blur in children's photos is a requirement! :-) It speaks of energy and spirit!

I have so much to learn about taking photos ...I don't think I'll ever fully understand my camera but it's fun trying.

Beautiful and lively, just like the children. Makes me want to dip my toes in the water, too. Thank you.

Well I don't know what you weeded out, Oliag, but what you have here are wonderful! The movements of your grandson - with his shadows - are perfectly caught, especially the beach one with both feet in the air! And your granddaughter touching the sand - I can feel it too. It really is a challenge to focus on moving objects, yikes. The seagull is a beauty too. Brava!

Such fresh and happy shots! I especially like the one of your grandson mid-air on the beach. Well done, Oliag. (I'm feeling a bit of grandchildren envy here) :)

I'm not sure why you think these pictures aren't optimum, because they look perfect to me! And I'm not sure photos always have to be perfectly focused. The grands are cute as buttons and look like they were having a ball!

They may not be perfect, but they are wonderful. And adorable.
