We are a family that enjoys food…especially on vacation. Some things we enjoy on every trip to Maine.
Young’s Lobster Pound in Belfast, Maine is a place we usually stop both on the trip up and the trip back.
We now know where to stop for Geary’s Summer Ale before we get to the pound.
…and we know the steamers and lobsters are fresh because we watch them being delivered…
…and we can sit and watch the sunset.
It is amazing how many people can be squeezed at our friends’ table…
Communal meals here at Rocky Pond happen more than once each trip…
Hot popovers and iced cappuccino at the Jordan Pond House is a tradition for us after hiking up Mt Penobscot…
Blueberry pancakes are made at least once during the week…
…thanks to my son-in-law.
Lobster at the Union River Lobster Pot restaurant happens annually…
…It’s one of the few places that will seat 14 without any hesitation.
Crab rolls and onion rings…
…at Jordan’s Snack Bar can’t be skipped either…
…especially with children old enough to enjoy the playground there.
Maine is for enjoying food together…

man oh man....yum yum and yum
You know, I loved seeing all the food shots and reading about it. But that last shot ~~ wow. I love that.
I've never been to main, looks like I'm missing out on a lot! Great photos!
Oh, dear lord. I'm helpless in the face of this post. Just know, my friend, that whatever I type here does not express what I'm feeling. The experiences, the visuals, your photographs (FAN TAS TIC) are sending me into bliss.
But OK, the food! Would you please adopt me? I want a food vacation with you.
I love how you're splitting these posts up, and Mainely Food (after Mainely Water) is perfect. To focus on the food is something I always do, wherever I travel. I have known for some time that you and I have this in common.
The large tables with people and food reminds me so much of our cottage at reunion time, especially the top one. Your son-in-law is so cute there, ready to flip. Your grandson on the merry-go-round is a prize winner. I am terribly impressed with your photography, it just fills me up.
each one a gem what a way to be together as a family.. love the peaches on the table!!
Oh my, Maine is like another country to this poor little ole southern girl! One with a wonderful cuisine! I can't even imagine all of the flavors. I'd love to try the crab roll. And onion rings are one of my many weaknesses.
Gosh, I'm really hungry now.
Your family is just like mine! We certainly love our food, and I for one can never get enough Maine lobster! It's funny because the place we buy fresh lobsters from in Brooklyn is called Jordan's Lobster Dock --I wonder if there is any relation?
I love the crowded table photos -- they are happiness personified!

Popovers, pancakes, seafood, sun, sea, family...*swoon*... :o) Thanks for this great taste! ((HUGS))
I know where we're going on our next "real" vacation...back to Maine! And I'm making note of your places, so I can visit that deliciousness. And now we have a camper, so we can vacation in it. Yay! I dare say there are probably some 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' up there that are on Guy Fiero's gotta-eat-at places, too.
Goodness gracious, I don't know if I can wait until next summer!!
Love that last picture!
I hope the hurricane missed you, or at least any storminess did no damage.
seriously, i am drooling !
that popover.....OMG !
and that last photo stole my heart :)
You guys know how to live! Hiking, swimming, and plenty of good food--that's what Maine's all about! Your photos are truly beautiful. Love the nostalgia of that Jordan's Snack Bar shot and all those family-gathered-round-the-table pics! Wonderful.
oh such gorgeous food!!!
Gorgeous food!!.. couldnt' have said it better. Love your pics...
what a nice gathering.
the last pic steals my heart.
I have always wanted to visit Maine...maybe one day if I'm lucky. Lobster is one of my faves which I rarely get to enjoy!! All this looks wonderfully good!
