An Autumn Snowstorm…

The weathermen said we would probably miss the storm since we were so close to the coast  and we did miss the worst of it.  So it was exciting to see the flurries as we were driving home Saturday night and it was quite amazing to wake to a couple of inches of snow on Sunday morning.  It was just three weeks ago when we were sailing in unseasonably hot weather.  Mother Nature is playing games with us I think.

We were fortunate not to lose power so we could enjoy the whole strangeness of snow in October and still have family and friends over for dinner…

There are so many textures to be found on this snowday walk that I decided to add this to Kat Eye Studio's Exploring with a Camera link-up.

Oh, she is trying to tell us something! So glad you escaped the brunt of the storm.
These pictures are among your best (the pattern on the macadam--oh, my), I think. Thank you.

These are all just gorgeous, love, love, love the stone fence one. Mother nature is scaring all of us, but making for some fascinating photographs. Looking forward to seeing more as the snow gets deeper and deeper this winter. Hope the bridges hold :-)

Such pretty captures, Gail! I think the snow was a photographers dream with all the color in the background.

Yes, you were so fortunate. Now they're saying 60's next week. Just crazy!

There is so much drama in a big snowstorm, and I usually love it, even when we lose power. But I recognize that it is not a good thing for most people. So I'm glad you didn't lose power and could enjoy this strange combination of autumn leaves and snow. Your photos are just beautiful. The leaf on the crystalized snow/ice is especially lovely, and I know you had to get down low to snap it (if it's a walking board, but maybe it's arm level . . . :)

I don't know how I missed this posting so long!

Lovely cold and frosty textures! Thanks so much for sharing them in Exploring with a Camera. They add a nice temperature dimension to the idea of texture!

I love all the texture sin your photos! It was such an odd and destructive storm wasn't it? A real Halloween trick played by nature. We in Brooklyn were also fortunate to not have much accumulation or power outages, but Central Park in Manhattan lost s few large trees as they collapsed from the weight of the snow.
