I’m not sure why it is so difficult to get back into the routine of posting after I return from a vacation but it is. It is almost as difficult as planning the vacation to begin with… Because we are not good planners and because we decided to go away rather late and because we read about this Puerto Rico trip involving hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, and swimming in a bioluminescent bay we decided to try a group trip with Road Scholars. I am certain we did far more in our one week stay than we would have if we were on our own .
Arriving early in San Juan we had time to go to the beach and then to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. Our hotel just happened to be a couple of blocks away from this little gem of a museum.
What we didn’t see on the first day we went back to see on our last day. The building was beautiful, the gardens were lush, and the exhibitions were delightful.
I wish I took more photos inside but there were signs requesting no cameras…and I didn’t care to be the ugly tourist. Outside I took plenty…
It was a good way to start a vacation.

beautiful photos. i love that first one.
looks gorgeous -- i am loving those overstuffed armchairs in among the glade of trees.
my mom has taken a lot of similar trips with elderhostel in the past, and now that i'm getting to be a woman of a certain age, i think i might need to look into those, too!
what a way to start an adventure ... i always feel I have to rest when i get home!!
Love, love, love the rock chairs!
beautiful photos.....
that last butt photo reminds me of the statue in the hotel we stayed in while in hawaii....totally made me laugh every time i saw it :)
oh, I was looking forward to your photos..
thank you , especially for the chairs.
A warm weather vacation in mid winter is so nice, even if all you do is sit on the beach. It sounds like your vacation was very interesting. The Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico looks fabulous!
I love those plump looking stone chairs!... lucky you to get away to warmth -
what a great start to the vacation! i love that bamboo garden with the stone chairs
oh these are beautiful.
xo
It's so beautiful there! What a way to escape the last dregs of winter! Love the stone chairs.
Oliag, what a gorgeous, world class museum! I'm terribly impressed. The original building is so lovely (hospital!). I love that the art exhibits are all by Latin American artists. No wonder you went back a second day. I think that is such a good idea, because you get a feel for the place the first day and can follow up the second when your legs aren't so weary ;-). The stained glass windows are just incredible and must really be a presence in person. Wow.
The scholar tours look like a great way to go, as you say packing in what individuals might not find on their own, or might find but not plan.
Wonderful!
