Our Puerto Rico Vacation…La Parguera

The next few days we spent in the southwestern seaside village of La Parguera. I was dubious about the hotel that had been booked for us but when we got there I immediately fell in love with it….

The Parador Villa Parguera is a paradore, or country inn, and is not fancy but is comfortable.   This is what we saw from our room on the evening we arrived…

…and this is what we saw outside our room in the morning…

It is the kind of place families go  to…

I won’t write about the food there though…There were some good things…like an octopus salad that was offered one evening…but in general the food  was just ok.

The village itself was very quiet while we were there, in fact horses and chickens had the run of the roads……maybe it is busier during the weekend.

We walked a up and down the streets with the camera one evening…

I admit that I will never be a great photographer because I am too self-conscious when taking photos…There were several shots in this town I would have taken if it weren’t for being too uncomfortable.  I am trying to work on that…

Many, many years ago, I was in La Parguera. I loved the Phosphorescent Bay on a moonless night, with all the shiny little organisms in the sea. I spent a good deal of time in Puerto Rico over a period of ten years and got to travel all over the country.

My husband and I lived in Ponce, P.R. many years ago. We had a small motorcycle and drove all over, exploring that lovely island. Ahh, memories. Your photos are lovely -- my favorite is the retro look of your cafe/resto shot.

The views from the hotel were beautiful!

I know what you mean about being self conscious when taking photographs sometimes...I am the same way!
