Maine 5...

It has already been a month since our family trip to Maine and I'm still reminiscing...I did take many, many photos during a ferry trip from Southwest Harbor on Mount Desert to Islesford...The ferry leaves every two hours from Southwest Harbor Upper Town Dock.

Many of the pictures I took were of the dock at Islesford...of all the colors of the lichen and barnacles and weathered wood...

So,
your tourist dollars were most welcome.

Good point, Violetski.

It's part of the ethos of fishing boats, not so new since the recession. But it must be multiplied X 10. I wish them well.

There are those lobster sandwiches again. Yum.

I love a good lobster roll. And I, for one, will not tire of your Maine reminisces.

Since Maine is one of my very favorite states, I can't get enough of your photos! I love the one underneath the pier...so gorgeous! I really must plan a vacation up there next year. We're planning to buy a travel trailer soon, so I'll be scoping out some lovely rustic campgrounds. Is there camping in Acadia?

How do you get the pics to post straight across like that? I've been trying to figure out how to do it.

You always take such artistic photos -- I love the row boats, the misty blue lake and the Nantucket grays.
Little E & J are always the best highlights! I'm using my grandson's initial from now on --no mare full name on my blog. Sadly I realized too late that "crazies" may be reading....sigh. Can't be too careful these days.

Did you get an "after vacation" slump? I did! I've been catching up on all the sleep I missed...lol

VioletSky - I would imagine the Mount Desert Island/Acadia Park area must be mostly sustained by tourists...

Ruth - Another common subject of fishing boats names seems to be the names of wives or girlfriends...is this supposed to be good luck?...

CountryGirl - Thanks so much...it seems that many of the blogs I visit have pics from Maine this year...I'm trying to learn from them...

Susan - Mr O and I keep talking about buying a camper too...so many places we would like to see...There are many, many camping areas in the Mount Desert/Acadia National Park area...but book EARLY!

Pat - Doesn't it always seem that a good rest is what is needed after a vacation?... Can't wait to see some pictures of Mr L:)

Christina - Just living on a small island, like Islesford, would make the community closer I would think...it must be a wonderful way of life...

Char - It may be hard to believe but I did eat some things other than lobster on vacation:)

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. And a lobster roll too! I imagine lobstering--or any kind of fishing--is a very tough life. But for the freedom of a life outdoors in paradise (until the snow hits)...
