This week's assignment for photography class was black and white photography...I have occasionally converted a color pic to black and white but I have never used my camera's setting for black and white...It was fun and challenging to try something new...
...but I think I will continue to use color....

Digitals have a setting for B&W? I will have to check mine.
Love the kitty photo and the reflection one, but I'm with you Oliag, I love your color pics. And I'm not much into the heavy processing either. It's fine for some people, but I want my pictures to look like what they are, if that makes sense.
I like these photos and recently I converted a few pics I took in England to B & W to frame looked great. I have never taken them in B & w though must have a go.
yes it is really fun to turn camera to bw and leave it...your mosaic is so varied and interesting....
I prefer to shoot in color and then turn them into black and white. You get more range of tones that way. Yours are pretty!
My son and daughter-in-law like B&W and had many of their wedding photos made that way ..and now the baby's portraits. It's artsy, maybe lasts longer, but I like color!
beautiful series with great pieces - love the mood that BW often sets.
I've always done the conversion too rather than the setting. a friend of mine insists she can see the contrasts better using the setting.
I like the way the B&W brings out the textures in some of the photos, like the flower pot and the spider on the barn(?)siding, but I love your color shots too!
You chose some good subjects for your b&w project. My nephew tells me it's the subjects with contrast that work the best. I think my favorite is the shed with chairs, but I love the water ones too. They're all lovely.
I love black and white photos, but I tend to use color... these are absolutely beautiful in B&W... You should try to throw a B&W into you mix of photos every now and then (because you do a wonderful job of capturing B&W)!!
I adore black and white photography. These are just gorgeous!
xo
Very nice photography
Thanks for the k.d. lang video of Hallelujah in the post above..she really feels it!
Just found your blog! These black and white photos are great. Its amazing how light comes through, where sometimes in a color photo it wouldnt have.
Love the barn and the two waterfalls.
