Now that I have grandchildren Halloween can make me a bit sentimental so this post is very nostalgic. I loved sewing costumes for the kids and had fun scanning a few of my old photos. The first was taken when my eldest, Ms O, was 3 years old…
Now my granddaughter is 3 years old and Ms O makes the costumes. Instead of things like witches and devils and gypsies, the children wanted to be Batman and Pearl the squid…
Perhaps you never heard of Pearl? My granddaughter, who loves all thing aquatic, wanted to be the squid from Finding Nemo…..
I suppose I should admit here that I did bribe the children with candy to get them to pose…:)

What wonderful memories of your girls and now new ones with the grandchildren. Great shots!
Love, love, love your grandson's enthusiasm. I've got a huge smile on my face. I also love seeing the old photos of your children. Good memories are worth so much.
Oh, there are tricks with children who won't pose.
(i just wish I knew them).
I do know one, though. Put them behind a door. Then open it and say peek a boo!
These are adorable. And I really like the little squid costume.
how adorable. back in the day i used to make my ex and i costumes for parties. sometimes i miss those days.
Thanks for sharing your Halloween with us! I love your mushroom pics, too.
This is great, to see the difference between the two sets of photos, for one thing. Of the first set, I especially like the White Rabbit's surprise at discovering she has ears, while that elegantly stoled woman watches.
Pearl with her tongue in cheek is priceless!!! Those two sets of eyes, one looking down, one looking up . . .
Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! Halloween is not a big deal here in Norway, so sometimes I miss the "real" Halloween of back home... though it really is just a a commercial, media & marketing driven machine now isn't it?! LOL! The real holiday is a far cry from our ancient ancestors had it. LOVED seeing the photos. :o) Happy new week ((HUGS))
Your children were such cuties through the years!
Grandchildren Batman and Pearl the Squid look fantastic!
I'm not much of a seamstress but I always managed to make Halloween costumes for my children every year. This year my grandson wanted to be a fireman -- he wore his fireman's hat and carried his fire truck and just wore his regular clothes -- he didn't want anything else -- who can argue with a two year old? :)
what wonderful group of hand created costumes..it is such fun to see them through out the years...glad you gave the explanation about Pearl
they are adorable. each time i had a trick or treater at my door, i oohhhed and ahhhed. lol
i am so in love with your new header. love it.
It worked, I see.
Too too cute! :)
I had an angel costume very like that. Love these happy memories.
Don't you just love Halloween?!
Those are very beautiful pics... Loved the batman one the most!! Lovely...
Have a great day:)
what a wonderful way to showcase this...
you truly are a seamstress!
Wonderful costumes, both past and present! I made costumes for my kids back in the day. One year they were Scarecrow, Tin Man and Dorothy. If I only had a brain....
Great photos, Oliag! It was fun for me to see your grown-up kids as little ones. It was also great to see my favorite niece and nephew in their costumes, since I didn't get to see them in person! I think those would be great in a calendar!
Oh, wonderful!! Love the robot, the rabbit, flying (roaring)Batman, and up-down eyed Pearl.Such precious memories; thanks so much for sharing them.
