I was very fortunate to have a father-in-law who worked in the jewelry business...The last years of his employment he worked for a company specialising in gold - jewelry and findings. I was spoiled because of this and never had to buy my gold hoops that I adore and feel comfortable in.
Several years ago ,after my father-in-law retired, I lost one of my favorite hoops when on a vacation...I always thought I lost it in an airport...For the first time I would have had to actually spend money on them...but my children gave me an almost identical pair for Christmas that year...
The mystery in this story occurred when I returned home from my recent Florida vacation. After emptying the suitcase I turned it upside down to shake out sand that had accompanied my sandals...there on the rug was the long lost earring...and yes I had saved its mate...Where was it for all these years? I had thoroughly searched the suitcase, including taking the lining out,and I have used the suitcase on other trips...Now if only my old lost wedding ring would show up...

Hello Oliag
I love to read those stories where rings are found on the beach after a particularly high tide or storm...yours is a good one too...you might need to get some more piercing done???
I lost a favourite antique earring on a flight to London. Or...I thought I had. Perhaps I should go shake out my suitcase also!!
It was time traveling for a while and just popped back up through the portal. I think if you look near the wire, you will see a small pin hole that you can access to retrieve the info from the journey.
cool story! i have one very similar about my necklace. :D
I think I need to go pull out the suitcases and start shaking. I have lost several earings over the last few years. I still have the mates in hopes that they will show up. Great story.
I'm so glad I'm not the only person that saves the old earrings....how wonderful you found it after all this time.
Delwyn - I thought of getting more piercings too but I'm too lazy to change even one set of earrings to tell you the truth!
PT&E - Maybe not enough time has past yet.:)
Rhonda - Thanks for visiting! I love your idea! if only it were real...what a story...
reyjr - my daughter was telling me about a story she read about a place where all missing things and people exist...someone was borrowing our jewelry...
D.K. - Never get rid of those singletons!
Char - I have quite a few other saved earrings too...another reason for more piercings?
nice...love it when you find something that was once lost.
I recently lost one of my favorites as well. Hopefully I will be so lucky and it will still show up one day.
Great theme for your story.
A very nice story with an excellent outcome.
I found my antique Egyptian brooch circa 1923 in the bottom of my husband's vintage camera bag that he hadn't used in 20 years.
I didn't even know it was missing.
I guess my son was moving things when he was a toddler.
