Snow Remnants...

A Patch of Old Snow
by Robert Frost

There's a patch of old snow in a corner

That I should have guessed

Was a blow-away paper the rain

Had brought to rest.

It is speckled with grime as if

Small print overspread it,

The news of a day I've forgotten-

If I ever read it.

..........

Rain last night melted most of the remaining snow leaving a few snow remnants...I love how Frost associates these remnants with memories...

That is a beautiful snatch of poetry.

I've just been catching up on your blog. Dinner last night looks like it was yummy. Your zoo photos are very good. I never get good shots of the animals.

I love Frost too - he writes how I would want to write if I could allow myself to think I could write poetry.

lovely

That's one of the first poems by Frost I read, and it remains a favorite. Thank you.

but then it came back.

we are supposed to get six to eight inches tomorrow.

I love your blog! Somthing for the mind; the poem, something yummy to eat, something pretty to look at, and those cute grandkids. I had a nice visit, thanks!

Wasn't Frost wonderful? He's one of my favorites. Succinct poetry --it's not easy!
Your photo is the perfect image to accompany this poem.

We might get more snow tomorrow --hope not!

I've never read this poem. I've been poem-ing in my own head about all the litter that gets revealed when snow melts. This is a nice one to keep that ruminating. Thanks.
