I love seeing sheets on the line. There is just something about the simplicity of it, the normalcy. Like everything's ok. Hanging them is also soothing. My husband set up a clothes line and he uses it every day. And typing this, right now, I just realized part of the reason he did it!
Seeing those sheets brings back so many memories; there is nothing like the smell of fresh air on your bedding! Alas, I cannot have a clothesline where I live now, so I guess I'll participate in the ritual vicariously. Thanks!
If I had a backyard, i'd definitely have a clothes lines. I put all my washing on a clotheshorse, but it isn't the same as 'catching the wind' off the line.
Ditto, all the above comments and soon I will be hanging my own sheets on the line. We set posts today and will finish it up tomorrow. I can't wait. I think it's supposed to rain most of next week though, so it may have to wait a few days.
Sunday is my sheet washing day, and they are billowing out on the edge of my verandah, waving to the passersby in their boats and I don't care if it looks like a laundry, I love fresh sunblessed sheets...
Kate - It is soothing to see laundry hanging on the line...and to watch it blowing in a breeze...better than wind chimes!
ds - The smell is actually the main reason I insist on hanging out bed sheets...that smell has never been bottled...
Char - It makes the whole bedroom smell good for quite a few days...:)
Violet - I'm afraid I'm too lazy to hang the clothes up if it isn't a perfect day for the outdoor line...but it is so much better for the environment as well as your clothes...
Susan - I would love to get new posts and lines...as you can see my line is stretched between an old shed and an old outhouse!
Thank you ELK!
Delwyn - I'm one of those people that go by houses like yours and take pictures of the laundry!
Leslie - It is sweet...It is interesting that no one has been able to duplicate it as far as I know...
