Steviewren of "a little birdie told me so" tagged me with an offer to post the sixth picture in my sixth folder and to tell its story...it will be fun to do this even if I don't tag others...
The sixth picture was taken six years ago of family friends at the top of Mt. Penobscot in Acadia National Park, Maine. Our two familys have vacationed in Maine together for many years and we have an annual hike up Mt Penobscot...
The vacation and hike often includes extra friends and relatives joining us...
...at the top of the mountain we swim and picnic...
This is Mr. O and me at the top...the view is worth the hike...
...after the hike we have tea and popovers at the Jordan House...

That's a lovely tradition! I hope you'll be able to keep it up for many, many years to come.
We've been on Mt. Bernard, I think. Can you also drive up most of the way? We had my MIL with us, so we couldn't hike. The trip is kind of a blur. Three days before, I had just hosted our son's wedding in our backyard, doing all the catering, flowers and decorating by myself. I was exhausted.
I do remember that view, so we must have been there. :)
A great tradition, and so beautiful. Have you ever been rained out?
Nice to see you there!
What great memories your family must have of your vacations with friends. I love the outdoor picnic and the picture of you and the Mister. Thanks for taking the challenge.
Well, the Mister says I was mistaken about Mount Bernard, says it was Mount Desert Island. Like I said, it was a blur. I hate it when I don't remember a vacation!
Susan - I've been corrected too! The hike we take annually is up Mount Penobscot and Sargent Mt...there is a Mount Bernard but it is on the other side of the island I believe...Mount Desert Island is the name of the island that the Acadia National Park is on...I know you can drive up Cadillac Mountain....with the same views...
Ruth - We have never been rained out because we are usually in the area for a week and make plans around the weather...it is often cloudy with poor views tho...keep in mind that pic was taken 6 years ago!
steviewren - Taking the challenge was fun! Thanks for including me:)
Never had tea at the Jordan House. It's always too crowded when we go by! My husband and I LOVE Acadia!! The last time I was there was two years ago. We stayed for a week, about a half hour away from the park in a beautiful home with a hot tub for my sore muscles at the end of the day.
Country Girl - Jordan House is impossible lately...we go early and put our name in for an outdoor table so we don't have to wait too long when we get back from our hike...Our biggest problem lately is finding parking...more and more people are there every year..
