I really do try to look on the bright side of events…Even though the rain is really starting to get to me, I try to see the beauty of the deep green, almost tropical look, of the New England woodland during this very wet and cool spring rather than worry about the water-logged irises. I try to think of how much I’m getting done indoors rather than think about the overgrown lawn. I try to think about cooking a primavera vegetable lasagna without overheating the kitchen rather than cooking steaks on the new grill. I try to think of all the reading I’m finding time for rather than taking time for my daily walk….I really am trying…but I still hope for sun this weekend...

and think of how amazing the flowers and grass are looking with the generous rain.
Hi Oliag
when i saw the first small photo I thought it was a grey pumpkin...
rain makes a good photo even better...
Happy Days
Ooo we have been getting so much rain, but it's been keeping the weather cooler than a normal June... and that's especially good for me, considering I'm stuck working in a room with no a.c. for 2 more weeks. :)
I've also been trying to see the bright side to rain, and lately, I've decided I like the way it feels to walk in the rain without my umbrella up. So on a cloudy day, as I enter the outside overcast world by leaving a building to climbing up the subway stairs, I hope to feel some soft raindrops falling down!
But despite it all, wishing you a sunny weekend, a break from the rain :)
Yes I know what you mean as I live in England but then I know if we didn't have the rain we would not have the beautiful countryside here - I hope you get some sunny days too like we have been having recently - I love that banner photo and the first image of the leaf that looks like a shell!
i try to see the positive in everything, but its hard sometimes isnt it? But i love these photos.
We on the other hand have not had enough rain, so I am grateful for it now. But in a few days I might feel ready for sun again, no doubt.
Lovely hostas. They are such forgiving plants, and their beauty is remarkable.
Your post reminds me of the four barrels Don just picked up for free, that he will turn into rain barrels. He needs to hang gutters on all the barns to capture it. I'm so excited.
Gorgeous photos, Oliag! I almost expected to see a little frog under that hosta leaf in the third picture!
Char - The flowers do seem to appreciate the cool, moist weather and are lasting much longer than usual!
Delwyn - I see the pumpkin too! Rain does add interest to the pics...Happy day to you too!
Alicia - Now that is looking at the bright side of things!...I'm certainly saving money on not using any ac:)
rambling rose - Thanks for visiting! I appreciate your encouraging words...especially after visiting your blog and seeing how talented you are!...
Kamana - Usually I can find something but this dreary weather is starting to get to me...I need some of your nice beach weather:)
Ruth - I love Hostas for that very reason...it is one of the few plants that I don't kill:) It does well in my very shady yard...Love the idea of the rain barrels...
Susan - I'm sure there are many a toad under those leaves...unless the cat has scared them away:)
Hasn't this been the gloomiest spring? I don't remember it raining so much in one month!
