Road Trip…

Last weekend Mr. O and I took a road trip to the Adirondacks…It’s only about 5 hours away but I had never been there before…I don’t know how that happened and I hope to go back again with more time for exploring…

Our trip started with a detour to the DiaBeacon Museum…No photos allowed there…which seems unreasonable to me…

It was fun to explore the large space …the exhibits are large and fill an old factory…

That night we attended a house-warming party for a house designed by Mr. O then stayed at the Keene Valley Lodge…

…It was too dark to take good pictures of the house…I just have a few from outdoors…

Sunday brought sun…lupines…and a trip to Lake Placid…

We took a boat tour around the perimeter of Lake Placid…and raced the rain clouds…

…before we headed back home.

Hi Oliag
what beautiful lupins.
And the lake looks so peaceful.
Aren't those chairs called adirondacks?

Happy days

It is a dream to stay in the Adirondacks, and I didn't even realize it until I saw your pictures. I suppose a dream can be subliminal, right?

We made two Adirondack chairs, and it's partly because I have always been drawn to that part of the country.

Your photo of the bed with the sun is precious, I love it.

And also how dreamy "a house that Mr. O designed" - there is something very impressive about that.

The Adirondacks is one of my most favorite places in the country! We did a trip there about 5 years ago and I've wanted to go back ever since. Hubby is retiring next year and that is one of the places going on the list. I really would like to buy a cabin on Long Lake. Do you know it? It just seemed like the ideal cabin place to me. Owning a lake cabin is my lifelong dream.

Mr. O is an architect? That's very impressive! And it looks like he's a good one, too! Lovely house!

Kamana - That lupine pic was taken at the inn we stayed in but they were blooming wherever we went and were gorgeous!

Tracey - I wish I had better pics of the house...and I did discover that I could use a camera with a better wide-angle...for houses and mountains!

Delwyn - The lake is peaceful at this time of year but I have a feeling it becomes very busy later in the summer...You're right - those chairs are called Adirondack chairs and if they are made right they are quite comfy!

Ruth - I never realized how dreamy the Adirondacks were! Maybe because they are fairly close I never thought about going there...I will definitly go back! Mr. O's houses are impressive...I just wish we could afford one:)

Susan - I will have to look up Long Lake...but I think any one of them would do...especially the small ones...I dream of a lake or ocean cabin too...Someday I will have to do a blog on Mr O's houses!
